The CricAmerica Top Ten Cricket Videos on YouTube

Despite the fact that the US doesn't play Test cricket or that USA Cricket seems to be involved in more off-field drama than on-field action, cricket fans in the US actually have it pretty good. Just about every major international match and franchise T20 tournament is available in some streaming form here. Unfortunately, you're going to have to pay for most of it.

Right now, we're in a particularly expensive part of the year for fans. India's tour of Australia and Pakistan's tour of South Africa are both streaming over the Willow app and TV channel. Meanwhile, Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies and England's tour of New Zealand are both streaming on ESPN+. Combined, that'll put you twenty-plus bucks deep into cricket for the next couple of months. If you're new to the sport and don't want to spend that much dough -- or if you just don't want to spend that much dough -- I've got you covered. Here's the CricAmerica Top Ten cricket-related videos on YouTube you can watch for free.

Remember the Name

The 2016 T20 World Cup final in India went down to the last over with the West Indies needing 19 off of four balls. Ben Stokes was bowling for England, Carlos Brathwaite was batting, and Ian Bishop was on commentary. Add it all up and you have one of the most memorable overs in recent cricket history!

Stokes at Headingley

Three years later and now it's Ben Stokes with the bat. This time it was the Ashes -- England vs. Australia. England was dropped for only 67 in their first innings and would need 359 in their second innings to pull out a miraculous finish.

The fourth day of the Test match began with Stokes at 2 and England still needing 200-plus runs. England started the day with seven wickets in hand, but those began to fall. Fast. When the ninth wicket fell, England still needed over 70 runs. Stokes would not only have to bat to protect his own wicket, but also the wicket of his partner, bowler Jack Leach.

Somehow, amazingly, he was able to take England over the line -- batting essentially flawlessly for hours.

Ranjitsinhji from 1897

Any footage of anything from 1897 would be cool, but this is Ranjitsinhji, one of the most innovative batters of his era and someone who forever changed the way cricketers bat.

Out of the Ashes

The rise of the Afghanistan cricket team is an amazing story that transcends sport. The country went from a nation that didn't even play the sport to one that can hold its own with just about anyone in the world. The current political situation in Afghanistan has moved things backwards in recent years, but Out of the Ashes tells the story of an incredible journey.

Rashid Khan and Shane Warne Talk Spin

For folks just getting into cricket, spin bowling can seem like an enigma. Balls are seemingly lobbed at the batter, but due to the amount and type of spin applied by the bowler, they become insanely hard to judge and hit after they bounce.

The late Shane Warne, one of the greatest leg spinners of all time, talking about the art with Afghanistan's Rashid Khan, the current best spinner on the planet, is a pretty amazing thing to see.

Rashid Spins a Baseball

Again, it's Rashid Khan. This time, he's hanging out in the US as a member of MI New York. He's given a baseball for the first time and asked how he would bowl spin with it. And while that sounds like the premise of a really bad Disney film, it makes for a really cool segment with Daren Ganga.

Swing Bowling Explained

I'm a total science geek. And since we just spent two videos watching and learning about spin bowling, here's an explanation of how swing bowling works. The aerodynamics are similar to what happens with a curveball or slider in baseball, so if you're also a baseball fan, you might end up getting smarter in two sports!

Jaskaran Malhotra’s Six Sixes in an Over

When American Jaskaran Malhotra clubbed six sixes in a single over in an ODI versus Papua-New Guinea in 2021, he became just the fourth player in cricket history to achieve the feat in international competition.

The video isn't the cleanest, but having  Andrew Leonard -- one of the nicest guys in the entire cricket universe -- on commentary makes it a must-watch video.

Big Innings -- June 21, 2023

As a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, I knew going in there was an 80-percent chance that -- at some point in my life -- I'd end up being a talking head on a postgame show. And here we are.

Despite the fact that it was still 95 degrees at midnight and there were bugs the size of birds flying around, this was a fun-as-heck show to do. The Washington Freedom's Saurabh Netravalkar had just taken six -- six!!! -- wickets from the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket action. And Nate Hays and Aaman  Patel -- two of the top voices of the sport here in the US -- are incredibly cool to hang out and talk cricket with.
